3 tips para vivir el momento presente

3 tips for living in the present moment

We constantly focus our minds on memories or assumptions that take us out of the present. We think about the future that is yet to come, the moments of uncertainty; we revisit the past for things we'd like to change and the moments that will never return.

However, we don't realize that living in these time travels, like Martin McFly's back-to-the-future, can lead to anxiety, but above all, to an escape from the situations we must live, navigate, and confront in the current moment in which we find ourselves.

But, What is it about living in the present moment? It involves learning to look inward, recognize our emotions and feelings, accept them as they are, and instead of seeking excuses or possible consequences, seek the tools we have to act consciously and move toward what brings us well-being.

We bring you 3 tips that you can implement to live β€œhere and now”

  1. Let go of the past
  2. Don't try to control everything
  3. Meditation

Let go of the past: Think about both negative and positive experiences from a learning perspective, being grateful for those moments that have defined, strengthened, and contributed to a better version of yourself.

Don't try to control everything: Our survival instinct drives us to try to control everything that happens around us. However, not everything goes as planned, and that's okay. Change what you can and let go of what's definitely not in your control. It's not about giving up on a path; it's about flowing with it, being flexible, and letting life surprise us. When we anticipate every single thing that "might happen," we stop living in the present.

Meditation: There's no better way to learn to live in the present than through meditation. Through simple, everyday mindfulness exercises, you'll open your eyes to all the wonders happening around you that you miss because you're so busy or so focused on something else.

Once you begin to live in the present moment, you'll become more aware of the things that are important to you; you'll be more compassionate with yourself; you'll spend more quality time with those around you; and you'll live with purpose. Remember, action is what counts; the here and now should be your choice.
