¿Cómo puedes ser más feliz?

How can you be happier?

Happiness is a lifelong pursuit, says Spanish philosopher Victoria Camps, and lies in choosing how to live and achieving satisfaction with our reality.

Although there's no established formula for achieving this goal, we know that, in a nutshell, it's about knowing how to choose which emotions and feelings should or shouldn't be cultivated on a daily basis, in order to gradually build up the tools necessary to help us face life's adversities.

It seems complex to know what the right decision is, especially when, as human beings, we face countless situations that produce different effects on us. But this gradual transition through each experience gives us the wisdom to understand what truly brings us closer to well-being and brings harmony to our daily lives.

Here are some tricks that have been proven to translate into stimuli of reciprocity and happiness:

  • View every difficult situation as a learning experience. Remember that as constantly evolving beings, each challenge becomes a tool for self-knowledge, enabling us to act better and more faithfully to our essence in future situations.

  • Think of others. Science has shown that happy people spend a lot of their time helping others. Dedicate your time to doing good deeds for others and you'll notice how those acts have a positive impact on your life.

  • Remember the power of gratitude every day. Appreciate what you have. When you engage in conversations with others, replace your complaints with stories of what's going well in your life. You're sure to find many more reasons to be grateful and happy than you think.

  • Create healthy eating, exercise, and sleep habits. Resting, eating well, and exercising will not only promote balance and physical well-being, but will also help you increase the production of serotonin, the happiness hormone.

  • Take time to be mindful. Focusing on the now will reduce anxiety about future situations and sadness about things we can't change. Focusing on the now will help you take real action to contribute to your happiness and that of those around you.
