Cafés a la Carta

Cafés a la Carte

Coffee, apart from being one of the most popular beverages in the world, is also one of the most versatile. Its flavor depends on the place where it is grown, the type of seed and fruit, the way the bean is roasted and processed, and even its extraction and preparation method.

The experience of sipping freshly brewed coffee in itself excites the senses, but being able to taste coffees made with different ingredients is another sensorial experience. Here we will show you Cafés à la Carte, which is nothing more than a compilation of the most popular coffees in the world, including their ingredients and how to prepare them. Join us...

Espresso Coffees

Espresso Coffee

Espresso coffee is the coffee you get through the extraction of an espresso machine, but there are different types of espresso coffees that can be prepared only with the machine, and they depend on the extraction time and the amount of water in the drink, these are:

Single espresso: This is the extraction of 25 milliliters of coffee beverage obtained, and is the basis for preparing most brewed coffees. It is obtained by extracting 7 grams of ground coffee with water at 93°C, between 9 and 10 bars of pressure, and with an extraction time of between 21 and 23 seconds.

Double espresso or doppio: This is a double espresso, that is, 14 grams of coffee, with 30 seconds of extraction, obtaining 60 milliliters of drink.

Ristretto or short espresso: Obtained with half the coffee of an espresso (7.5 grams) and between 15 and 20 seconds of extraction, it is a more concentrated drink.

Long espresso: This is an espresso that uses 7.5 grams of coffee and is extracted for 30 or 40 seconds.

Americano Coffee: Prepared with two espressos, adding hot water.

Cafés Lattes

Café Latte

Lattes are those that use milk in their preparation, mostly evaporated with the espresso machine, although many combinations can be made, we see the most popular ones:

Cappuccino: Cappuccino is prepared by combining a shot of espresso, steamed milk, and milk foam.

Macciato or stained: It is prepared with a shot of espresso, and only the frothiest part of the evaporated milk is added.

Latte: Prepared with 25% of the strength of an espresso, and evaporated milk and milk foam are added.

Bombon: This coffee consists of a shot of espresso, condensed milk, and sometimes milk foam. It's almost always prepared in glasses or crystal cups. First, the condensed milk is poured, then the shot of espresso, and finally a layer of milk foam. Due to the difference in density, the ingredients don't mix on their own, making it very attractive when served.

Mocha and spiced coffees

Café Mocca

These are coffees that are prepared with spices added in addition to coffee and milk. One of the most famous is the mochaccino, which contains cocoa or chocolate.

Moccacino: Prepared with a shot of espresso, steamed milk, milk foam, and chocolate syrup or powder.

Vanilla Latte: This coffee is prepared with a smaller amount of espresso and more milk, like a traditional latte, and vanilla is added to its preparation.

Cinnamon: It is a variant of cappuccino but cinnamon powder is added to give it flavor and aromatic qualities.

Coffees with liqueurs.

Coffee with liqueur

In the latter case, these are coffees to which liqueurs are added for their preparation. Most of these coffees take the name of the liqueur that is added to them. Some very popular ones are:

Scottish coffee: It consists of coffee with Scottish whiskey in this case (although the name may change depending on the origin of the liquor, Irish or English).

Russian Coffee: Coffee with a touch of Vodka.

Carajillo coffee: Or simply coffee with brandy.

Caribbean coffee: It is made with coffee with rum, and in some places a touch of panela or papelón.
