While we probably shouldn't eat cinnamon rolls every morning, we can capture their flavor in our coffee with this cinnamon roll cold brew . The base is a simple cinnamon syrup, where we infuse cinnamon sticks in water, and then add brown sugar and vanilla emulsion with butter to replicate the fresh taste of the cinnamon roll.
This cold brew is easy to prepare (except for the wait time while the coffee steeps), and it's also a delicious option to enjoy anytime. Let's take a closer look at this recipe.
Ingredients and substitutions
Cold Brew
- 110 g of ground coffee (Β½ cup)
- 960 ml of hot water (32 oz)
Cinnamon Roll Syrup
- 225 g of water (1 cup)
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 200 g light brown sugar (1 cup)
- 2 teaspoons of vanilla emulsion with butter
Cinnamon Roll Cold Foam
- 90 ml of milk of your choice (3 oz)
- 30 ml of heavy cream (1 oz)
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon roll syrup
For cold brew:
- Ground Coffee and Water: Cinnamon roll-flavored ground coffee is recommended to enhance the drink's flavor, although you can also use your favorite coffee, as long as you think it will complement the cinnamon well.
For the cinnamon roll syrup:
- Water: To dilute the syrup.
- Cinnamon sticks: To infuse the cinnamon flavor into the syrup.
- Vanilla Butter Emulsion: This ingredient adds a special touch to the syrup's flavor and is usually found alongside other extracts in grocery stores.
- Light brown sugar: To sweeten the syrup and give it the classic cinnamon roll filling flavor.
For cold foam
- Milk: Use your favorite milk. Oat milk is a great option for a creamy texture.
- Heavy cream: Necessary to thicken cold foam.
- Cinnamon Roll Syrup: Use a portion of the syrup you prepared to infuse the foam with cinnamon flavor.
How to make Cinnamon Roll Cold Brew:
Cold Brew
- Add the ground coffee and hot water to a French press. Stir the mixture, replace the lid, and let it steep in the refrigerator overnight.
- After letting it steep, slowly press the French press to separate the coffee grounds.
Cinnamon Roll Syrup
- In a small saucepan, add the water and cinnamon sticks. Cook over medium heat and let the mixture simmer for 10 minutes.
- Remove the cinnamon sticks from the water, add the sugar and the vanilla and butter emulsion. Stir until the sugar dissolves, then remove from heat and transfer the syrup to a container to cool.
Cinnamon Roll Cold Foam
- Add the milk, heavy cream, and cinnamon roll syrup to a glass or medium bowl. Stir or shake the mixture until foamy.
- Pour 8 oz (240 ml) of cold brew over ice and top with the cold foam. Serve and enjoy.
Recipe Yield:
This recipe makes enough cold brew for 4 drinks, and the cold foam is prepared separately for each one, as it is best to make them one at a time for best results. If you prefer, you can make just 240ml of cold brew, although it is often practical to make more due to the time it takes to infuse. Cinnamon roll syrup can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks, so you can reduce the amount if you don't think you'll use much of it.
